Hi @tag-und-nacht, thank you for this. It's a really careful first language PR, and it made our review easy.
What's great
- The grammar choice is measured, not assumed. 4,930/4,933 files (99.94%) across Metabase, clojure-lsp,
clj-kondo and Babashka, plus the comparison with Sogaiu's ABI-14 parser, is exactly the evidence
prompts/add-a-language.mdasks for. It's also written up in ARCHITECTURE.md where the next person will
find it. - The vendoring follows our THIRD_PARTY rules exactly. It's pinned by full SHA in both CMake and
THIRD_PARTY.md, pruned toparser.c+tree_sitter/+ LICENSE, the CC0 license is recorded, and the
size row is correct. - You were honest about the limits. Arity is marked inexact instead of guessed,
dependencyCapableis
false until there's a real ns resolver, the nonlocal-state and;-comment gaps are disclosed, and the
quote/syntax-quote/#_negatives are tested. test/clojurecheck.shis a proper gate. It covers all four extensions, the kinds, the negatives,
cold/warm/relative-root parity, the census and the disclosures, and it's registered inregression.sh.- The CodeRabbit follow-ups are solid. I checked all four fixes in
9b893021by reading the code
(comment/discard gaps, defmethod params, thecljlint token, theif rg … exit 1checks). They look
right.
Required before merge
- Parser version → 127, please. Sorry, this one is invisible from outside. We keep a reservation list
forkParserVerso parallel PRs don't collide:mainis at 124, and 123, 125 and 126 are already
reserved for #325, #338 and #339. Please rebase onto currentmainand set bothkParserVer
(src/ingest_cache.h) andkIngestParserVerMirror(src/quality.h) to 127, with the comment line.
Then regeneratetest/qschemetrip.hashandtest/printf_parity.manifest. The rebase merges cleanly
otherwise. - Namespace-qualified calls. The reference pattern captures only
sym_lit'sname:, so
(str/join …),(s/valid? …)and(Math/abs -1)turn into barejoin/valid?/absand go to the
global name ladder. On a repo where two namespaces both definejoin, that creates call edges that
aren't real. We hit exactly this with Elixir (PR #81: the ladder gave one function 55 callers where 3
were real) and decided that a qualified call we can't resolve is counted as unresolved, never
laddered. Could you capture thenamespace:part into the existing genericReference::qualifier
field (the same one C++A::b()and Rust calls use), rather than adding Clojure-specific logic in the
graph? Please also add a negative fixture: two namespaces that each definejoin, and a caller using
(str/join …), asserting no edge to the wrongjoin. If the graph still ladders it with the qualifier
set, tell us and we'll make the refusal generic on our side. (Resolving:require [… :as str]properly
can be a follow-up PR, and we'd love to help with it. See the note at the end.) - CHANGELOG. A short
### Added — Clojure (.clj/.cljs/.cljc/.bb)entry under## [Unreleased], with

code. Today, calls inside them become call edges. Treatingcommentlike#_(inert) in
clojureQuotedOrDiscardedwould fix it. A one-line fixture case would lock it in.
Nice to have (fine as follow-ups)
let/fn-param–bound locals called as(f x)currently reach the ladder too. Emitting them asVarDecl
bindings with spans would let the existing generic shadowing pass handle them.specialFormscould also listwhen-let if-let when-some if-some condp declare.- Is
SymKind::ModuleScopea better fit thanOtherforns? - In the THIRD_PARTY note, please record the Sogaiu commit you compared against, so the "rules match"
claim can be re-checked later.
A note on the per-language pattern (this one is on us)
You followed our guide exactly. prompts/add-a-language.md literally says to write src/ingest_LANG.h
and to model it on ingest_elixir.h. Looking at your PR alongside Elixir, we've realised that pattern
shouldn't keep spreading. Most of ingest_clojure.h (the head table and the special-forms list) exists
only because our tags pass doesn't evaluate #eq?/#any-of? predicates. With those predicates, it would
be a few lines of tags.scm, and the same is true of much of Elixir's keyword handling.
We're updating add-a-language.md and adding a short "Adding a language" rule to CONTRIBUTING: data first, per-language code only
behind a small set of named hooks, shared resolvers. We are not asking you to restructure this PR around
it. Your file is small and clean (zero clone matches), and we'll keep it as is. When we land predicate
support in the tags pass, we'll port the Clojure head table into tags.scm ourselves, or pair with you if
you'd like. The same goes for a Clojure ns/:require resolver: we'd rather build it by generalising the
Elixir module resolver than by adding a clojure_resolve.h, and we'll help with that.
CI: as a first-time contributor, your workflow runs need a maintainer's approval. We'll approve them as
soon as the rebase is up.
Thanks again. This is a genuinely useful addition, and a model for how to present a grammar choice.

Thanks for the review. I am rebasing #349 onto current main (now kParserVer=156) and addressing the Clojure-specific items. Could you reserve an updated parser-version number for this PR? The earlier 127 reservation is behind main. I also confirmed that current graph.h still allows a non-C++ qualified call with an unplaced qualifier to enter the bare-name ladder; I will capture Clojure namespace into Reference::qualifier and add the negative fixture, but a no-wrong-edge assertion will require a shared graph-resolution change. Would you prefer that generic guard in #349, or a separate maintainer-owned follow-up? I am keeping #355 and #357/#380 out of this PR as discussed there. |
Includes comment-form filtering, qualified-call namespace capture, regression fixtures, changelog, and provisional parser version 158. Known failing gate: clojurecheck still finds a false str/join -> join edge through the shared graph fallback. Parser version and generic resolver treatment await maintainer guidance; this is not merge-ready.

I pushed rebased WIP at 99ca2c4 for review. It resolves the conflicts with current main and adds the Clojure comment-form filter, qualified-call namespace capture, regression fixtures, and a changelog entry. The plain build, qschemetrip, and gatecount checks pass. This is not merge-ready: clojurecheck still fails because the shared graph fallback incorrectly resolves str/join to an in-tree join. Parser version 158 is provisional pending maintainer guidance; the questions in my earlier comment about version assignment and where to handle the generic resolver fix remain open. |

@joyful-ii-V-I Solved conflicts, and waiting. |

@tag-und-nacht thank you for resolving the conflicts and for the rebase, and for tracking the Keep the negative fixture and let the gate pass today. For a wrong answer someone else will fix, we write a assert 'join' not in calls('qualified-join'), calls('qualified-join')with something like # KNOWN GAP (shared resolver, not Clojure): a qualifier that names no definition still reaches the
# bare-name ladder, so str/join binds the in-tree join. The maintainers' shared refusal flips this arm.
assert 'join' in calls('qualified-join'), ('known gap moved: flip this arm to "not in"', calls('qualified-join'))Then it does not block the merge. Whichever change lands second flips the arm; if that is ours, we flip it. Parser version. You don't need to keep up with Keeping #355 and #357/#380 out of this PR is right; both have their own rows in the CONTRIBUTING map linked Where this is going. The plan for shared code is in a new CONTRIBUTING section, Adding a language: common An optional invitation, no pressure. You already know this part of |
