Hi, I'm Valery πŸ‘‹

My name is Valery Bodunov, I am a school student actively studying software development.

My main programming language is Python. I'm currently focused on building a strong foundation in programming through theory, problem solving, and personal projects.

I don't consider myself a professional developer yet. Right now, I'm learning, experimenting, building things, and gradually improving my skills.

πŸš€ What I'm working towards

My long-term goal is to become a strong software developer.

My current path looks roughly like this:

Python β†’ Algorithms β†’ Projects β†’ Backend β†’ Web Development β†’ AI/ML

I'm especially interested in:

  • Software development
  • Python
  • Algorithms and data structures
  • Backend development
  • Web development
  • Automation
  • Developer tools
  • Databases
  • AI/ML
  • Telegram bots
  • Building useful software

I prefer learning technologies when I have a real problem or project that requires them, rather than trying to learn everything at once.

🧠 How I learn

My approach is simple:

Learn β†’ Practice β†’ Build β†’ Test β†’ Improve β†’ Publish

I learn best when I can turn theory into something real.

Instead of only following tutorials, I try to build my own projects, make mistakes, understand why they happen, and improve the code afterwards.

I'm also gradually learning the engineering side of software development:

  • Writing maintainable Python code
  • Project structure
  • Type hints
  • Testing with pytest
  • Git and GitHub
  • Python packaging
  • pyproject.toml
  • Documentation
  • Working with files and directories
  • Algorithms and problem solving

πŸ› οΈ Technologies I'm learning

Currently focused on

  • Python
  • Git
  • GitHub
  • pytest
  • Algorithms & Data Structures

Exploring next

  • SQL
  • Databases
  • FastAPI
  • Backend development
  • HTML & CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Web development
  • AI / ML

I'm intentionally learning these step by step rather than all at once.

πŸ“‚ Personal Projects

I enjoy building small and medium-sized projects that help me learn something new.

A modular Python library for working with files and directories.

It includes tools for:

  • File analysis
  • Hashing and integrity checks
  • Duplicate detection
  • Text search
  • File organization
  • Batch renaming
  • Encoding conversion
  • Reports
  • Metadata

This was an important learning project for me because it taught me how to structure a real Python package, write tests, use pyproject.toml, work with Git, and document a project properly.

An experimental custom text codec built from scratch in Python.

I created it to explore:

  • Python's codecs system
  • Bytes and bytearray
  • Character mapping
  • Encoding and decoding
  • How custom codecs can integrate with Python

It's primarily an educational and experimental project rather than an attempt to create a production standard.

πŸ“š Currently learning

I'm continuing to strengthen my Python fundamentals while practicing algorithms and solving programming problems.

I also use platforms such as LeetCode for algorithmic practice and TryHackMe to explore computer systems and cybersecurity as an additional interest.

πŸŽ“ Education

I'm currently a school student preparing for the next stage of my education.

My current university goal is TUSUR, where I'm interested in studying software development and intelligent technologies.

I'm planning to take:

  • Russian
  • Advanced Mathematics
  • Computer Science

For now, my priority is building a strong foundation in programming, mathematics, algorithms, and computer science.

πŸ“ˆ My goal for this GitHub

I don't want this profile to be just a collection of repositories.

I want it to show my development over time.

Hopefully, someone looking through my repositories in a few years will be able to see something like:

Python fundamentals
        ↓
Small projects
        ↓
Libraries & testing
        ↓
Algorithms
        ↓
CLI & automation
        ↓
Databases
        ↓
Backend
        ↓
Web development
        ↓
AI / ML
        ↓
More complex software

The number of repositories isn't the main goal.

I'd rather have fewer meaningful projects that show what I learned and how my skills are improving.
