Global Self-Driving Lab Landscape: interactive world map, growth timeline, watch feed, five languages

Self-Driving Labs (SDLs) close the loop between AI-driven hypothesis, automated synthesis, and online characterisation. This list catalogues the people, programmes, and platforms doing the work. It captures the landscape as I read it, not as it indexes itself. Entries reflect public information as of June 2026 and are continuously revised through the interactive map.

📥 Data Downloads & Export

Everything on the map can be taken with you:

  • Dataset — sdl-data.txt (grouped plain text) · sdl-data.csv · sdl-data.xlsx. Regenerated from src/data/sdl_data.json at every build, so they always match the live pins. Download buttons also sit on the list page.
  • Map export — the map's Export map… dialog renders the current filter selection (type, maturity, domain, characterisation, country) to SVG, PNG, JPEG, or a one-page PDF, in light or dark, with legend and attribution. Built for reports and slides.
  • Analysis charts — sdl-analytics.zip: seven matplotlib charts (country, tier, domain, maturity, AI-readiness distributions; growth by year; reported investment) as SVG + PNG, regenerated with npm run analytics on every dataset update.
  • View toggle — the map now offers a flat Natural Earth projection alongside the globe for a one-glance world overview.
