Summary

Extend LunaFury support through the shared Lamzu/CompX driver.
The companion UI is on the
OpenMouse PR.

  • Add independent button polling, three onboard profiles and DPI stage/count/X-Y controls.
  • Add mouse, scroll, DPI, media and keyboard mappings. Protect the left button and preserve existing macros and unknown bindings.
  • Add Never auto-sleep, four 8K receiver light modes and the official bottom-button power/DPI modes.

Bank operations are serialized and writes are verified by readback.
Complete DPI storage preserves dormant slots for Games restoration.
Custom DPI colors are not exposed.

Packet definitions come from the
LunaFury configurator.
See the
protocol notes
for support and validation scope.

Validation

Runtime VID is 0x373e: LUNA33 cable/8K PIDs are 0x0032/0x0033;
TYPE33 cable/8K PIDs are 0x0054/0x0084.

Build, package checks and all 2,474 protocol tests pass, including both exhaustive
registry checks. The 162 Lamzu driver/codec tests also pass with real timers.
Runtime audit passes; development and release dependencies retain audit findings.
Upstream CI is required before merge.

The owner verified LUNA33 firmware 0.0.26.0 over cable and 8K:
button polling, onboard profiles, DPI, mappings, sleep, receiver lighting
and reconnect readback. TYPE33 and bottom-button behavior are not hardware-verified.

Merge requirements

Merge and release the protocol first.
The companion app must then pin the published version containing these APIs
and pass its registry-only CI / check job: npm ci, npm run build, npm test,
npm run size and npm audit --audit-level=high.
Local paired-package tests do not replace that validation.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added LunaFury controls for onboard profiles, DPI stages and storage, button mappings, polling rates, and separate X/Y DPI settings.
    • Added controls for bottom-button modes, sleep timeout, and receiver lighting on supported devices.
  • Improvements
    • Device settings are checked against readback, and status refreshes when the active profile changes.
    • LunaFury status now includes available DPI-stage and button settings.
  • Documentation
    • Updated Lamzu support information and added LunaFury compatibility and testing notes, including firmware-specific verification and behavior that has not been hardware-verified.

Add bank-scoped complete DPI storage backups and verified restoration, including dormant slots. Cover invalid backups, reserved values and queue safety, and update the hardware and release documentation.
Document the companion app final-table composition and twelve switch regressions, and update paired application validation to 349 tests. Protocol source and hardware-verification claims are unchanged.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 6e711

The protocol adds LunaFury onboard controls, and the integration documentation now names the published-package clean-install gate. No concrete defect is established to block this change; the companion app CI still needs to pass for that integration.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 6e711

The new controls remain restricted to supported LunaFury devices and validate and confirm writes. No new authorization bypass was established. Remaining uncertainty concerns interrupted operations, external application recovery and hardware behavior not yet verified for all supported models.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The added authority reaches supported LunaFury runtime mice and receivers accessible through caller-supplied HID devices. Persistent mouse, keyboard and media mappings can affect subsequent input on the attached host. No additional service, tenant or privileged execution path was established.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — Inspection did not establish a newly introduced permission or device-identity bypass through the added entrypoints. This is bounded to the inspected driver and codecs: external application authorization and recovery orchestration were not verified.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Public arguments and device replies cross distinct validation boundaries. Profile identifiers, stage indexes, enabled DPI values and storage ownership are checked; HID replies must match the expected operation and applicable selectors before they are accepted.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — The new operation queue is owned by each client instance. close() does not drain or cancel it, and subsequent exchanges can reopen the device. The existing transport-close behavior predates this PR; close() was not established as an authorization-revocation boundary.
  • observed — Support documentation explicitly limits hardware verification to LUNA33 and leaves TYPE33, bottom-button behavior and hardware Games restoration unverified. Synthetic checks do not establish firmware behavior during interrupted multi-report writes.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Define the consumer-facing recovery and shutdown contract: a rejected mutation may have changed hardware, recovery should reread the current bank, and callers should know whether shutdown drains pending work or merely closes the transport. Exercise failures after the active-stage clamp and shutdown races against that contract.
