Summary

  • Adds LunaFury DPI/X-Y editing, remapping, button polling, onboard profiles, sleep, receiver lighting and bottom-button controls, with Apply/undo and 12 languages.
  • Games restores DPI per device and profile bank, retaining backups and pending edits after failures.
  • Adds LUNA33/TYPE33 firmware checks by VID/PID and component. Newer internal firmware never prompts a downgrade; missing readings stay unknown.

Uses @openmouse/protocol@0.45.1, including protocol #205. See the setup guide and firmware sources.

Validation

CI and CodeQL pass on 729217e4: 564 tests, build, bundle and dependency checks; zero audit vulnerabilities. UI checked in Emerald, Light and NieR, including Arabic RTL.

LUNA33 internal firmware 0.0.26.0 was tested over cable and 8K. TYPE33, bottom-button behavior and Games apply/restore still need separate hardware verification.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added LunaFury controls for editing DPI stages, separate X/Y sensitivity, button actions and keyboard shortcuts, and button polling rate.
    • Added controls for bottom-button behavior and receiver lighting, plus a LunaFury preview mode and firmware-version information for supported devices.
    • Buttons settings are now available for devices that report button support.
  • Improvements
    • Game profiles preserve and restore settings per device and profile bank, retaining recovery information when restoration fails.
    • Profile switching and settings changes better protect pending edits when status checks or writes fail.
    • Added LunaFury translations across supported languages and improved control layouts.

Resolve lower-priority legacy DPI scalars before merging a new Games target. Restore complete stored DPI slots after temporary stage expansion, keep backups out of saved profiles and imports, and update regression and release documentation.
Merge complete backups and new Games targets before staging one count/X-Y table write. Avoid dropping matching target edits or sorting them against the previous game. Add the three switch counterexamples across all four runtime PIDs, unit coverage and updated validation notes.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7a3eb

LunaFury button rows show a generic "custom" label for macro assignments, so users cannot see which macro is assigned. Profile switching does not discard unsaved edits. This is a minor display issue and can be fixed as a follow-up.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7a3eb

The examined changes keep writes scoped to the connected device and improve recovery after partial failures. Remaining uncertainty concerns profile-bank stability during multi-step writes and hardware behavior, rather than a demonstrated security vulnerability.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The examined profile-write path can alter the selected mouse's onboard configuration and permitted button assignments. Its write authority remains tied to the active connected client; no broader service, credential, or environment authority was established by this flow.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Profile preflight compares device identity and bank, and each write batch rechecks the active client and device. Bank identity is not independently revalidated per batch. The UI blocks ordinary onboard-profile switching during a write, but these controls do not establish hardware-level bank stability.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — A failed application clears its applied signature while preserving originals. The existing status store notifies subscribers on every successful five-second poll, providing another application or restoration opportunity while Bridge remains active. This supports eventual retry, not guaranteed recovery after disconnection or page termination.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Confirm whether hardware or another controller can change the active bank during a multi-batch write. If that is possible, establish bank-addressed writes or another bank-stability mechanism supported by the protocol, and verify interrupted application and restoration against it.

157-176: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Remove the LunaFury branches from DpiStageEditor. Production rendering never reaches them.

DpiCard renders LunaFuryDpiEditor for every status.brand === "LunaFury" (Lines 635-638). DpiStageEditor is not exported, and DpiCard is its only caller. As a result, these branches never run in production:

  • the profileSource/ySource effect (Lines 157-176), which returns early unless the brand is LunaFury;
  • the lunaFuryDpiEdits commit path (Lines 229-235);
  • the y row field set by initRows (Lines 93-94).

This code also produces most of the reported tsc failures in this file: dpiStagesY and separateDpiAxes at Lines 93, 94, 159, 173, 229 and 232. Removing it cuts the protocol-dependent type surface. It also removes a second LunaFury X/Y write path that tests do not cover. After the removal, lunaFuryDpiEdits and its tests are unused. Remove them as well, or move them into LunaFuryDpiEditor if a later change needs them.
