# Lessons Learned

## Recent
<!-- 10 most recent lessons, newest first -->
- meetup.com returns HTTP 200 and a generic page title for nonexistent group URLs; confirm group URLs with Mason or the Meetup Pro page data instead of curl status codes (2026-09-29)
- mkdocs-redirects generates redirect pages without a stub source file; deleting a page and adding it to `redirect_maps` is enough (2026-09-29)
- The Meetup Pro network page at meetup.com/pro/pytexas only shows active groups; inactive but still-supported groups like Katy Python Coders won't appear (2026-09-29)
- Board minutes and officer elections live in the PyTexas shared Drive as "YYYY-MM-DD Annual Meeting" docs; search there before asking Mason for officer terms (2026-09-29)

# Session Summary: Stale Page Audit and Updates

**Date**: 2026-09-29
**Duration**: ~1 hour
**Conversation Turns**: 9
**Estimated Cost**: ~$3 (roughly 300k input tokens, mostly cached, on Opus)
**Model**: Opus 5.5 (claude-opus-5-5)

## Key Actions

- Audited every non-blog page in `docs/` for stale content and reported findings grouped by severity.
- Debugged Google Drive access: the small-business plugin's Drive server failed with a dynamic client registration error; after Mason removed the plugins and reloaded, the claude.ai Google Drive connector (mason@pytexas.org) became available.
- Walked through each stale page with AskUserQuestion to get per-page decisions.
- Pulled the 2026-04-19 annual meeting minutes from Drive and added them to `docs/foundation/minutes.md`; fixed the 2025 entry's date typo.
- Updated `docs/foundation/who.md` for the 2026 fiscal year and new term end dates.
- Updated `docs/sponsorship/meetup.md`: meetup list (Alamo Python rename, Houston PyLadies, PyLadies ATX), newsletter and Discord stats, Central Time, generic availability line.
- Removed `docs/foundation/sponsors.md` and `docs/foundation/fundraising.md`, dropped them from nav, and added redirects to `sponsorship/index.md`.
- Extended `docs/foundation/about.md` history; fixed the archive URL in `docs/conference.md`.
- Verified with `uv run mkdocs build --strict` (no warnings) and checked the generated redirect HTML.

## Prompt Inventory

| Prompt/Command | Action Taken | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Scan all pages and find out-of-date ones | Read every non-blog page, checked git dates | Audit report with clearly stale, probably stale, and fine buckets |
| What Google Drive are you linked to? | Called Drive plugin tool | Auth error; plugin Drive server not connected |
| I reauthed on claude.ai | Searched for claude.ai Drive tools, retried | Connector not loaded in session yet |
| Deleted plugins, try now | Called claude.ai Drive list_recent_files | Connected as mason@pytexas.org |
| Present each page, ask what to update | Three rounds of AskUserQuestion, Drive search for minutes and meetup data | Per-page decisions collected, edits applied |
| Commit and open the PR | Session summary, commit message, signed commit, PR | This summary |

## Efficiency Insights

**What went well:**
- The site is small, so reading every page directly in two Bash calls was faster than delegating to an agent.
- Pulling the 2026 minutes from Drive filled the minutes and officer gaps without asking Mason to retype them.

**What could improve:**
- One multi-select question mixed "edit" options with a "redirect instead" option, which let Mason pick contradictory answers and cost an extra round.
- Tried to verify meetup.com URLs by HTTP status before realizing meetup.com returns 200 for nonexistent groups.

**Course corrections:**
- Switched from the failing plugin Drive server to the claude.ai Drive connector.
- Kept Katy Python Coders after Mason confirmed it is still in the Meetup Pro network (inactive groups don't show in the scraped page).

## Process Improvements

- Keep mutually exclusive choices (redirect vs. edit) in a single-select question, not mixed into a multi-select list.
- Treat the Meetup Pro network page scrape as incomplete; it omits groups that haven't met recently.

## Observations

- mkdocs-redirects works without stub files in `docs/`; the existing "dead file" stubs (discord.md, links.md, etc.) are not required.
- The 2026 minutes doc in Drive was built from the 2025 template, so some financial lines carry over older values alongside new ones.

## Suggested Skills for Next Session

- `content-design:review-content`: any further prose updates to Foundation pages should get a style pass.
