fix(deploy): let a catalog port bind to loopback, so a wallet dashboard stays off the internet - #423
Conversation
…rd stays off the internet
A catalog port written as "127.0.0.1:9980:9980" crashed the deploy with a 500
(int("127.0.0.1")), so an entry could only publish a port on every interface.
That is wrong for a dashboard whose API can spend the node's wallet, which is
why Sia's own Docker guide binds hostd's 9980 to loopback.
The UI now sends [address, port] for such a mapping, the worker's DeploySpec
reads it as the (address, port) tuple docker-py needs (a list would become two
bindings), and LAN isolation no longer lists a loopback port as one that must
accept inbound connections.
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughDeployment now accepts host-IP-bound port mappings and passes them to Docker. Loopback-bound ports are excluded from inbound-port exceptions, while other published ports remain included. ChangesLoopback port binding support

Reject malformed port mappings instead of raising ValueError.
A three-part mapping with an explicit protocol, such as 127.0.0.1:9980:9980/tcp, already works. Empty host ports and unsupported multi-colon mappings can still raise an unhandled ValueError and produce a 500. This behavior also existed on the base revision, so it is not a regression from the address-binding change.

- Bind the dashboard to 127.0.0.1 (its API can spend the wallet), now that the catalog supports a host address on a port (GeiserX#423). - 9981 is Sia consensus, not RHP4. - Drop the "failed to" health signal: a fresh, healthy node logs "failed to get certificate for RHP4 net address" while it syncs. - mem_limit 4g: hostd 2.11.0 reached 1.9 GiB within four minutes of sync. - State that the wallet needs Siacoin before the node can earn, use Sia's recommended prices for the estimate, drop the unsourced /24 claim. - Record that there is no referral programme for hosts.
A catalog entry could only publish a port on every interface. Writing
127.0.0.1:9980:9980crashed the deploy with a 500 onint("127.0.0.1"). That is the wrong default for Sia hostd (#422), whose dashboard API can spend the node's wallet. Sia's own Docker guide binds that port to loopback for this reason. The UI now sends
[address, port]for a mapping with a host address. The worker'sDeploySpecreads it as the(address, port)tuple docker-py needs. A list would not work, because docker-py reads a list as several bindings. LAN isolation also stops listing a loopback port as one that must accept inbound connections.Checked against a real Docker daemon: the tuple comes back as
HostIp 127.0.0.1only, while a plain port binds0.0.0.0and::. The three new tests fail on main (the deploy route returns a 500,DeploySpecrejects the pair, isolation lists the loopback port) and pass here.Summary by CodeRabbit
