Toolbox Module - Future Enhancements

Scope

  • hardening and refinement of toolbox runtime behavior
  • deterministic reliability improvements for orchestration/bridge/helper paths
  • migration from proxy-only to dedicated toolbox benchmark coverage

Design Constraints

  • toolbox contracts remain backward compatible within major release line.
  • extraction and bridge outcomes remain explicit and deterministic.
  • degraded registry and helper paths remain observable and non-silent.
  • future performance governance must prefer direct toolbox suites over adjacent proxies.

Required Interfaces

Interface Requirement
orchestration interfaces deterministic extraction lifecycle behavior
bridge interfaces stable content-to-toolbox result contracts
registry interfaces explicit initialization and reset semantics
helper interfaces bounded text processing and routing behavior

Implementation Notes

  • tighten parity between extraction metrics and content bridge diagnostics.
  • standardize incident taxonomy for registry, streaming, and helper classes.
  • add dedicated benchmark suites for toolbox-native workloads.
  • retain proxy mappings only until direct benchmark coverage is available.

Test Strategy

  • unit and integration suites for builder, registry, bridge, and helper behavior.
  • regressions for soft-fail extraction, streaming, and composite-routing edge cases.
  • deterministic stress runs for toolbox-adjacent extraction workloads.
  • release-profile benchmark runs for current proxy mappings and future direct suites.

Performance Targets

  • toolbox-adjacent hot paths remain inside regression budgets.
  • extraction and text-processing-sensitive operations remain stable at p95/p99 envelopes.
  • proxy mappings are replaced by direct toolbox benchmarks as soon as those suites exist.

Security / Reliability

  • maintain strict bounded behavior for bootstrap and extraction transitions.
  • preserve explicit failure signaling for bridge, registry, and helper faults.
  • enforce predictable degradation under synchronous streaming and mixed-content load.
  • keep diagnostics actionable for production toolbox incidents.
